There’s a heatwave coming, I’m sippimg Hattingley Valley in my garden…the weekend is here….
I also have this ridiculous obsession with the peonies I plantes in lockdown..I know! I KNOW! 6 YEARS AGO……BUT that year the weather conspired to create perfect conditions for my garden to flourish…..last year was a peony disaster BUT THIS year……at the moment, things (the peonies) look promising.
Last time (2020) I photographed daily, became OBSESSED with every detail, every small ‘pouff’ of leaf unfurling, every nuance in the light at all times of day, last time - The light danced magically around my garden and I ended up creating a calendar - this year, I’ve started noticing the light again, the peonies looking more robust, LOTS of greenery + much bigger flower heads than the last couple years, the ants have been busy too….working whatever wonderous magic they provide and so, no expectations just excitement of potential, hmmm..more like possibility….
The roses have also been and gone….a combo of frost or blight? The dark velvet red ones look a little drunk, heads hanging heavy, I’m not sure there’s any availability to sober up and stand tall again…..I might soak them in water and see if a scent can be extracted, I do love them when they are both plump and fabulous and deconstructing, the colours are always so magnificent
And so to the 31 degrees predicted for the weekend……….weeheeeee…its great just to feel warm lol
Happy weekend everyone!x
