WOWZERS!!!
Last night saw the official launch of our ‘Ladies First’ Photography project and I am so proud it’s up!
I'd love to say I breezed up to Croydon to check out the exhibition, elated and full of delight but truth be told - I was elated and full of delight with my stomach in my mouth as I approached lol - I hadn't seen the prints before they went up so I had no idea what they looked like. I mean obviously I’d worked on them and knew how they looked but just not in print! and there is always that second mental check list “wondering if the highlights were in check, the blacks weren't blocked up” and generally the printing was fabulous.
I was delighted!!! The prints look epic! Printed on a stunning Matt paper finish, the detail was sublime!
On show until May please pop along and take a look and share a photo or two, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Enjoy xx
Lisbon, October 2018
This video just popped into my life yesterday - I work with an awesome vacation photography company called ‘Flytographer’ + during our ‘meet up’ in October last year we made this wonderful video about what we did before we were photographers + what it means to be a photographer! So neat! Enjoy xx
TODAY our fabulous exhibition officially opens! Angel & Julia of the Croydonist have written about us https://www.croydonist.co.uk/iwd19/ Please check it out :-) x Have a great Friday Everyone xx
Clementine is two weeks young!!!
It was SUCH a pleasure to spend a few hours with Naomi, Luke + Clementine on Sunday - she is just the cutest!
Goodness, it’s been a week that feels more like a year x
So sometimes we pottle along with life, we get caught up in things, busy with work or time just seems to slip past, fly away or you blink and you’ve missed a month (or two!)
Being March 1st, I have actually scratched my head wondering quite where February went - this year I am very consciously working on more of a life / work balance - over the last 3 years I have enjoyed being massively busy but that comes with the flip side of not catching up with friends, seeing family or hanging out as much as you would like and seeing someones face is awesome.
I’ve said recently, many times, that I will post more this year bcos quite frankly last year I barely took a breath let alone posted very much and I intend that to change but more now, today I have to change that bcos I miss that connection (this now feels like a Friday night confessional lol) and I’m going to hang out, see friends, go to a supper club or three and ahh breathe. It’s funny how subtly the balance can tip and then all of a sudden it catches up with you. So Friday 1st March 2019, you got me, I’m on it :-)
Here’s to more Friday night confessionals - I know next week I’ll be in Croydon for International Women’s Day so expect pictures!! Have a great weekend everyone x

2018, marks 100 years since women in the UK won the right to vote, a victory that took 86 years from the start of the campaign and although an amazing accomplishment for all women, there was still discrimination against the type of women who could vote. 2018’s International Women’s Day theme is #Pressforprogress, which couldn’t be more fitting, in today’s society where inequality & discrimination towards women is still taking place, worldwide.
It will be held between 5:30 and 7:30 on Thursday 8th March at the LNK unit in Centrale Shopping Centre in Croydon Town Centre and will include guest speakers, entertainment, sparkling wine & cakes and the chance to network with and meet other inspirational women.
Lives Not Knives would like to invite you to join us, at an evening, celebrating women and their many achievements. Tickets to the event can be obtained from EventBrite or names emailed directly to karen@livesnotknives.org.
(This image was't supplied with the writing, I just LOVED it + wanted to share xx)
“You can have flaws, be anxious, and even be angry, but do not forget that your life is the greatest enterprise in the world.
Only you can stop it from going bust. Many appreciate you, admire you and love you. Remember that to be happy is not to have a sky without a storm, a road without accidents, work without fatigue, relationships without disappointments. To be happy is to find strength in forgiveness, hope in battles, security in the stage of fear, love in discord.
It is not only to enjoy the smile, but also to reflect on the sadness. It is not only to celebrate the successes, but to learn lessons from the failures. It is not only to feel happy with the applause, but to be happy in anonymity. Being happy is not a fatality of destiny, but an achievement for those who can travel within themselves. To be happy is to stop feeling like a victim and become your destiny's author. It is to cross deserts, yet to be able to find an oasis in the depths of our soul. It is to thank God for every morning, for the miracle of life. Being happy is not being afraid of your own feelings. It's to be able to talk about you. It is having the courage to hear a "no". It is confidence in the face of criticism, even when unjustified.
It is to kiss your children, pamper your parents, to live poetic moments with friends, even when they hurt us. To be happy is to let live the creature that lives in each of us, free, joyful and simple. It is to have maturity to be able to say: "I made mistakes". It is to have the courage to say "I am sorry". It is to have the sensitivity to say, "I need you". It is to have the ability to say "I love you".
May your life become a garden of opportunities for happiness ... That in spring may it be a lover of joy. In winter a lover of wisdom. And when you make a mistake, start all over again. For only then will you be in love with life. You will find that to be happy is not to have a perfect life.
But use the tears to irrigate tolerance. Use your losses to train patience. Use your mistakes to sculpture serenity. Use pain to plaster pleasure. Use obstacles to open windows of intelligence.
Never give up .... Never give up on people who love you. Never give up on happiness, for life is an incredible show.”
Pope Francis
Have a GREAT Year everyone + See you soon! xx
Thank God for iPhones when you're a short ass!
As dusk set in, tar races started, children training to become the barrel racers as they age and quite the commotion of bangs and flames. The picture above at the beginning of the night, crowds gathered in eager anticipation. My mum and I as onlookers have NO idea what to expect apart from a crisp night and fun.
Groups of men ran around the crowd in a relay passing the barrel from one person to the next...occasionally dropping it!!! Crowds moving swiftly lol
Yep! Real flames, real Tar, real people!!
Try something new, clear out the old + make way for the new....

We had so much fun capturing these shots on location for Alitex So much craftsmanship goes into each glass house and so much care and attention is made to the process. It was a joy to work my way around each glass house we visited and discover each detail and something new! Who doesn't love being outside xx
